AI agent vs chatbot: which Shailpar line you actually need

Shailpar splits custom AI agents (one workflow, tools, human review) from chatbots (FAQ, lead capture, WhatsApp/Telegram handoff). Outcomes are not guaranteed.

These are two published product lines, not two names for the same bot.

AI Agent

An agent is designed for one defined job:

  • Intake, research, follow-up, or internal handoff
  • Tools it may use
  • A human review path
  • It follows your process. There is no outcome guarantee. Shailpar does not yet publish an AI-agent case study.

    When to buy an agent

  • Work follows a script and must stay reviewable
  • You need an internal handoff that humans can audit
  • The task has clear start and end states
  • Chatbot

A chatbot works on a website widget or messaging channel (WhatsApp, Telegram):

  • Qualify a lead
  • Answer routine questions
  • Hand to a person
  • Channel API setup is part of intake, not assumed. Shailpar does not yet publish a chatbot case study.

    When to buy a chatbot

  • Visitors leave your site with no follow-up
  • Support repeats the same ten questions
  • You run a WhatsApp-first local business
  • Do not combine both in v1

Unless the brief names both, do not bundle an agent and a chatbot in the first version. Scope one line, ship it, then add the other if needed.
